Ben Feldman, Esq., a principal of the law firm Beigelman, Feiner & Feldman, P.C. since 2007, is a theatre and independent film entertainment lawyer, also practicing in the areas of book publishing, television, and other media. His varied clientele includes publicists (including the Karpel Group), talent agencies (including Harden, Curtis & Associates), venues (including Ars Nova), casting directors (including Mackey Sandrich) and not for profit theaters (including Naked Angels, the Hourglass Group, and the Peccadillo).

In film he has acted as production counsel for a number of movies (ranging from his first, Kissing Jessica Stein, to Trumbo, currently in theaters), the most recent of which is Black Dynamite (post production) which is being handled by the Endeavor Agency worldwide and for which Mr. Feldman raised a portion of the financing. He handles major motion picture theatrical distributors (including Roadside Attractions/Lions Gate), including rights acquisition and delivery. As producer rep he has made historic sales both at Sundance (Deadline, a documentary sold to a major television network for primetime) and at the most recent SXSW, where his film Second Skin made a record sale for that festival and for which Mr. Feldman sold all territories worldwide. He was production counsel, producer rep, and filmmaker’s lawyer for Southern Comfort (Sundance Grand Jury Prize).

His artist representation includes Academy Award nominees (including documentarian Robert Stone) and writer/directors (including Daniel Barnz, who’s Phoebe in Wonderland was a critical and commercial highlight at the most recent Sundance Festival). Ben’s talent clients include current stars of The Starter Wife, The Daily Show and the recent one-woman Broadway play Golda’s Balcony.

Mr. Feldman’s work as a theatrical attorney has been acknowledged at the Tony Awards ceremony twice, and his clients have been recognized for best Play Revival (producer), Best Actress in a Play, Best Orchestrations, Best Score, and Best Book of a Musical. He was recently published in (as one of two attorneys asked to write a chapter for) the Commercial Theater Institute’s Guide to Producing Plays and Musicals. This theatrical season on Broadway, he will be production counsel for Vanities and his firm also will handle Empire, Irena’s Vow, Wishful Drinking (w/ Carrie Fisher) and other shows. Ben has raised money for Frost/Nixon and 9 to 5 on Broadway.

In addition to his legal practice, Mr. Feldman currently is a member of the Board of Directors of two New York non profits organizations, including the Chase Brock Experience dance company; in the past he has served as a director of film festivals and theatre companies.

Ben has served as production counsel and associate producer of the films Penthouse A (currently in pre-production), The Understudy (currently in post production), Another Gay Movie, Another Gay Sequel (recently in theaters), and also produced The Cutting Room (w/Kate Hudson). Off-Broadway in New York City, he has co-produced Mae West’s Sex and Trouble in Paradise, both to rave New York Times reviews. He produced The Stand In on stage in Los Angeles, and sold the film rights to Miramax.

Before starting Beigelman, Feiner & Feldman, P.C., Ben was of counsel at the law firm of Epstein, Levinsohn, Bodine, Hurwitz & Weinstein in New York from 2002 – 2007. He was an associate at Kaufmann, Feiner, Yamin, Gildin & Robbins from 1999 – 2002. Graduate of Yale College (Summa Cum Laude, 1990) and NYU law school (J.D., 1997). Admitted (in New York) in 1998. Following Yale, and prior to law school, Ben was an assistant to the producer Daryl Roth (now a client).
