Thayne Stoddard is a Partner at BFA and represents investors in complex securities class actions and shareholder derivative suits across the country. Thayne has substantial experience in all aspects of litigation, including investigating and drafting claims, briefing dispositive and other motions, managing discovery efforts, taking depositions, working closely with experts, and preparing for and attending trial. Thayne leads all aspects of the securities litigation team’s client-related discovery efforts, including collections, productions, responses to discovery requests, and deposition preparations. In addition, Thayne leads the securities litigation team’s knowledge management and associate staffing efforts.
At BFA, Thayne has been a member of litigation teams that have recovered more than $1.4 billion for investors. In particular, Thayne was a member of the teams that, among other matters, prosecuted the firm’s derivative stockholder action against Tesla’s Board of Directors in Delaware Chancery Court, resulting in a settlement valued at $919 million, as well as cases against Teva Pharmaceutical Industries, Ltd., resulting in a $420 million settlement, and TaskUs Inc., resulting in a $17.5 million settlement. In these cases, Thayne took the lead in analyzing discovery, preparing for and taking fact witness depositions, working extensively with experts to draft class certification and merits reports, and preparing the papers that successfully sought approval of the settlements of these actions. Thayne is currently a member of the teams litigating securities-related claims against Twist Bioscience Corp., Citigroup, Inc., and derivative claims on behalf of Boeing.
